The Glera grapes (which used to be called Prosecco) grow in elongated and lightly packed bunches, with long thin stalks that support the golden sun-kissed grapes. It is as delicate and elegant as the wine it produces. In the historic vineyards of Valdobbiadene, you can typically find indigenous varieties here and there among the Glera vines, such as Bianchetta, Perera and Verdisio, which make an important contribution to the complexity of the final product.
Up until the 1990’s, the grapes were harvested quite late, no earlier than October. Over the last few years, the harvest has crept forward and now takes place in mid to late September, sometimes even at the start of the month.
